Community Garden Grant Project aided by Grade 9 Grads of KCA!

A great thank you to the 19 hard working students of the 2021 Kootenay Christian Academy (KCA) grade 9 graduating class. They came (all 19 of them along with Dawn their teacher) and over the course of about 8 hours on Thursday and Friday, June 10th and 11th, managed to paint the house in the middle of the community garden project and build 9 cedar garden boxes for the project! Along the way they learned a little about the ancient Orthodox faith, the Feast of Ascension (June 10), and listened to Lesya Basaraba tell them a little about her Mexican housebuilding experience at Project Mexico and St. Innocent Orphanage https://www.projectmexico.org/ over lunch. They were slated to go down to Mexico to do a house-building trip this summer, but of course Covid derailed this. We are most grateful that they brought some of their wonderful energy to us at St. Aidan and contributed in a big way to the “Fresh Produce for the Needy” project we are developing at the now newly painted house behind the church! They are a wonderful bunch with the light of God shining in their eyes!
