Perogy Dinner HUGE Success!

The first Perogy dinner at St. Aidan Orthodox Church in Cranbrook was a huge success! The tickets were sold out, we had to turn far too many folks away. We hope to continue serving Perogy dinners in the future! Here are some photos of the fun evening from Diakonissa Victoria Jordan.

Perogy Fundraiser Dinner, May 3rd, 2018

It is official, St. Aidan will be hosting our first genuine Ukrainian supper on Thursday May 3 from 5:30 – 7:00pm, downstairs at the church (201 -7th Ave. S.). We had 15 talented perogy makers come out and make over 600 genuine baba’s recipe perogies and will be serving them along with baba’s secret sauce,  Ukrainian kobasa sausage, a wonderful roasted seed with mandarin orange Romaine lettuce salad, apple crisp desert  and a glass of fine Wynnwood Cellers  wine (for those desiring to partake)! This is a great bargain at $15/plate or $10/plate for children (12 and under) and add a glass of wine for $5. All proceeds will go towards our fundraising efforts to pay for our beautiful new cupola and to support Street Angels. Come on out and check out our beautiful new cupola and our many new icons!

This is reviving an old and greatly appreciated historical tradition going back to the original Ukrainian builders of our Church in the 1950’s, 60’s, 70’s and 80’s.  I can’t count how many times I’ve been asked when we might be once again offering the historic Ukrainian perogy suppers that were such a popular fixture in the Cranbrook community in the last century (1900’s). While we are now an English speaking Orthodox parish, we have some serious Ukrainian cooking talent in our membership so this will be sure to be a popular event. We are limited to 75 tickets and it will be first come first served, so get back to us quickly to reserve your dinner! Please do come and bring your friends and family.

As an extra bonus, the Cranbrook community choir led by the talented David Pasivirta will be rehearsing upstairs starting at 7:00 pm so you can check them out and perhaps consider joining them when they get going again next year!

Tickets will be available at the door (assuming they haven’t sold out). To reserve your tickets phone:

See you there!
